Hey Matt, happy birthday Dude. Thanks for all that you do here. I hope your fishing luck was as good as mine. By the way the eggs catching salmon advice you gave me a while back worked...Thanks

Thanks so much you guys! I am sorry for the delay in reply, who knew my ole bday would get noticed : P I was pretty tuckered out yesterday after a trip to the Nehalem with Mike. We caught a few fish but we had rising water to contend with on the main so the slivers were sliverin by pretty fast. Got 1 chinook on the fly rod and lost one of those fiesty nehalem native slivers. The Nehalem bunch comes a bit later than some of the other silver runs and those fish are absolutly mint! I can also tell you that I believe they may be one of the hardest fighting fish in the northwest. If you do not beleiev me, go tangle with one on your fly rod and get back to me :D I did battle another nice chinook most of the way in while bobber fishing one hole and we let a few realy nice incidental cutthroat go. If you hit the coast, bring your camera because the fall color is amazing right down on the river where the maples are..

Two days ago on the 15th I decided to take a solo-relax day on my home river the and as it turned out I may have had the best bobber fishing afternoon I have ever had in all my years fishing ho's on the sandmeister. The water had come up just 6 inches and buckets of fish were quietly on the move. almost unnoticable. I fished through an entire quart of bait bobber fishing a small pocket in just a few hours. I never saw that day coming, just how it happens sometimes on the Sandy. Ohh and by the way, I did not catch ANY dark fish that night! I dont know how either......but theres still lots of bright ones around in many of our rivers...........we do still need more rain but do not wait, get out there and try because its not over....

So in all I have had some super duper fishing in the last few days....Wish I could repeat either of those days and go for a hat trick???

Thanks for the nice bday wishes!

Yo Matt,
Happy late Birthday! Thanks for this site and your insights.

Sounds like your solo day was a nice one and great to have that isolation from time to time.

Peace
JJ

Nothing beats a couple great days' fishing like that, Matt. Wow! Don't tell me you forgot your camera for the coast! Hahaha can't wait to see some pics. Glad to hear you got into some fish for your birthday :)
