Wow we really need a place to put this stuff, because this is not fishing related *gasp* but IM giving myself special privalige since we have been snowbound for almost a week now in East county. So blah! lol
IM having a Harbucks Coffee House installed soon :D Even though its so far the least voted forum addition......
If you have been watching channel 6 news, you might recognize some of this from the last few hours of Greshams 'disaster area' footage. National Guard ER tech's in fancy medivac Hummer's also arrived with the local ER units.
So we are just kind of bumbing around here in our not so best, not much going on really, cars getting stuck. Last night news of National Guard coming in to Gresham to aid rescue units of all types. Then today there is some kind of emergency at our complex with one of the residents and this was the scene. I could not resist taking pics of the hummer after seeing it on TV. You also might recognize one of the guys in blue. I will tell you guys later if no one figures it out tonight ;)

Man, what a ride...IM a Hummer fan, seen some Hummer's but not this one...
So yea it looks nice out now in these photos and there are cars and people about the area again but this was the scene just 30 hours ago right before the last blast.

You guys get a couple of inches and you gotta call out the National Guard!?
It's been a long time since we have seen dry pavement up here... We got about 6" of snow over the last couple of days... it is very refreshing.
Now, if only the rivers would thaw and the fish start running...

They were brought in to help get these ER people into the west hills area of Gresham that is not accessable...if someone needs help they had to pack in on foot so they needed the hummervacs.........They are expected to stay here on duty for at least the next 72 hours.

In Alaska it's a way of life. Here in Washington and Oregon, it's nice for awhile, then it becomes a pain in the arse. Nice Photo's Matt. I know here in Puyallup and the rest of Washington for that matter, it can be difficult at times to get our Fire Engines and Medic Units into area's we need to get too. We have a lot of hills in the Puyallup area and the side streets are not taken care of by DOT. They work on the main roads only, like most area's, and the side streets you just have to make due. Chains on the rigs, 25 mph max, can make for some extended response times. Not a big deal if it is a headace or some of the other crap we go to, but a little more of a crisis if it is Difficulty Breathing, Chest Pain, a Cardiac Arrest, Child Birth or a Structure Fire. A high percentage of the time if it goes out as a structure fire, this time of year in these condtions, chances are when we get there it's ripp'in pretty good. We go from 3 to 4 minute average response times to sometimes 10 to 15 minutes...:(

I work for Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. Starting January we take over Fire Operations for the City of Puyallup. That will put us at about 90 square miles of coverage area, 12 Stations, 20,000 calls per year and it just keeps getting bigger. I never did the Medic thing, all though to work at CPF&R you are either a Medic or EMT-D. I also did Haz-Mat as a level A-tech for a number of years but gave that up for Technical Rescue. Structural Collapse, Heavy Rescue, Ice/Swift Water, Confined Space, Ropes-Low, Medium, High Rescue, and Trench Collapse, appealed to me much more then Haz-Mat. ;) I've also been a member of the Washington State FEMA Task Force I, for about 15 years. A few deployments over the years, the one that stands out the most, 12 days in Oaklahoma City for the Bombing of the Murra Building....

I retired full time as Training Division Chief... worked as a frontal lobotomized PM/Engineer for most of the career though... 26 years... still on-call.
By the way... weather comments were tongue in cheek!@ We stuck a 4,000 gallon tanker last night!:o
Cheers

Scudrunner, sorry to hear about the tanker, those are the days that ya don't need.:( By the way, you are exactly where I plan to be when I finally hang it up. I'm kind of aligning things now to head that way in the near future. Not so much in Alaska, though I will be up on the Nushagak in June, more so I will be doing things here in Wa.
Take Care, I'm sure over time we have plenty of notes to compare...:)

to the firefighters whatever their job may be. You have to be a bit crazy, insane and mad to do what you do. Class AAA heroes in my book. Under paid and over worked with too little gratitude from some people out there....Cheers guys and gals and Merry Christmas to all of you that take the responsibility of looking out for the rest of us......

Thanks for the kind words and support Rollin. I think Ed would be with me on this one, There is so much reward in what we do, that you don't really need to hear the thank-yous, though it's nice. I feel extremely lucky to do what I do and enjoy it so much. It's too bad not everyone enjoys their job as much as most firefighters, then again that's what makes us a little different.;)
Merry Christmas...:D

I have an F-250 V-10, I love it. I will be in the market for a toy hauler in the next couple years to go trailer camping/fishing with then I will want an F-350 Diesel, four door and of course 4 X 4...... Modify the drift boat trailer and it will fit in the back of the toy hauler and away I go. Fishing in style without the worries of renting a hotel and having someone rip off my boat and/or gear.....:D A little slice of heaven.

Rollin, that's too funny. I saw the pictures of your F250, I pretty much have the same exact truck. Mine is a 2001 and I added heavy duty Air Bags to haul my camper. I have been looking as well for a tow-hauler. I am selling my truck camper and getting a 28' to 30' Tow-Hauler, that the Drift Boat will roll right up into the back of. Funny, I thought I was the only crazy one...;)

Naaaah, I think it is a great idea that we have...:p...You don't see or hear about anybody with this idea. It is nice to come up with something original. And, can you imagine the ooooh's and aaaah's we would get when we drop the back ramp and out comes a drift boat? :D My truck is a 2001 as well, extended cab, 4X4. It has been a great truck but it won't meet the legal hauling reg's for a 28' - 30'er. Plus I want a 5th wheel, I like stretch out all over the place...
FireFish
12-25-2008, 02:21 PM
I'll have to re-check my specs. My truck is the Extended Cab Super Duty and it hauls the 3500 lb. Camper really well with the Air Bags. I know over all Gross Weight is the issue. I'm looking at just a standard tow behind trailer because I need to keep the canopy on the truck for the dogs, gear ect. I'm pretty sure the Light Series of trailers with the aluminum frames come in under tow specs. Any particular brand that you have looked at that you like??
Sorry Matt, Looks like we kind of stole this thread and got off topic...
