I think alot of things that are simple might help also.

Example: Think of "proactive" solutions....Tourists have been killed on those stairways to the river more than once. Could encing the side of the stairway and spring gating the top and bottom so bear simply could not enter the stairs, forcing them back onto the trails help? I see this as a good idea because people who find themselves cornered by a LARGE Alaskan BEAR in a tight space with no place to go will often panic even if bear savy. I have seem the bears there just jump on and off the stairway at will. When they come up the run!

I understand this may not be possible without further construction or developtment to the area but could something "safe" of that nature benifit the overall scene down the road? Developtment is there already.......

Example 2: In AK they make catwalks and platforms to walk and fish from along the kenai and Russian River's. Might it be a good idea to make 2 designated bear safe areas, such as a fenced gondola enclosure anglers could simply step into while the bears "PASS" by on their way down the river feeding..?

Fish could also be stored in such an area?

How bout steel honor system fish boxes behind the MAIN areas [like the fish tables] with hooks for hanging fish ropes, for anglers to store their catch while still fishing, to reduce training the bears to humanization. They have fish cleaning table all over the place and everything that lives there from the bears to the trout and char know exactly were they are and when someone is using them.

So it looks as though we have the entire Russian area all set up to provide for mankinds needs [fish cleaning table, poorly constructed stairways, no place safe for temp fish storage, ferry to get to the goods, walkways, fishing platforms] but the bears are just being pushed back with the beliefe that more will simply fill their place from higher up the next season. Fact is the developtment is already there, just improperly focused.

I could understand this in maybe Montana but this place is still pristine and very much a natural wonder.
