    Matt,

I just can't express enough my gratitude for being able to spend such a unbelievable day on the water with you. Not just that day, but the handfuls of days I've spent before and after that day.

You certainly are right when you said we've spent some great days on the water... some with fish, and some without fish... but as I write this on the eve of my return to school, I can say with pleasure that there really isn't anything like being on the water for me these days, fish or not, as few and far between as they come. But I can say right now that I did dream for a day like this to finally come, and man I was in no way, shape, or form ready when it did!

Those fish kicked me around like a rag doll.. but I held strong, and had the VERY fortunate skill to put a few on the bank, certainly many that I will never forget. Especially that big buck that had to be pushing lower 40 pounds... my biggest Chinook ever, and it certainly fought like the King that it was... My first fish of the day was on a fly rod, unbelievable that I landed it and was able to finally experience a big fish on the fly rod, one of my most memorable catches of my life

A day of fishing that will forever live in my mind as a glory day... Not only do I have the experiences in my mind to bother the heck out of me when I'm down in college this year, my head in a book drowning in words... I even have some VERY quality, beautiful photos that I can share with my friends, being able to actually show them what the heck I do on my free time, and what REALLY makes me tick, rather then try to explain it in words... For that, I just can't say thank you enough.

Even though I have never experienced Alaska YET... I can certainly say if Alaska's anything like that, my sights are set high now...

Thank you for such a blessed day on the water! One I will surely never forget. This Essence... it certainly lives on in my heart and it will for the rest of my life.

Here's to many more wonderful days just like this, my friend

I generaly burn up 1 cheap fly reel a year on chinook. Last year the reel survived but the fly line had a near miss...No broken rods last few years...Mike lost a rod and reel in the trask last fall also.......These fish can really mess with your head some days......If you think steelhead can hand your tail to you, try getting a 30 lb chinook mad while holding the other end of the fly rod. I dont care what weight you throw, at some point your tail will get handed to you..........I throw 11 weight.......
